Failing sucks. And not such because you don’t get what you wanted, but rather because you are forced by facts to acknowledge a flaw. Blaming it on the circumstances, or on other people might be relieving, but truth is: you - and no one else - were the one who screwed it up. Admitting that you are less than you had originally assumed is no easy thing to do, but it has to be done. Denial may be recomforting, but so is mediocrity, and accepting to live in mediocrity means failing twice.
However there’s nothing wrong in wishing perfection, there’s nothing right in letting one failure stop you either. Do we get by? Guess we do. Does it take a huge effort to admit that, had you been better, you would have nailed it? Sure it does. Does it suck? Hell, it sucks. But only because you sucked first. Can we man up and move on? Well, we can try.
